Monday Morning at the Big Blue House

Last night I got home after the closing festival celebration absolutely exhausted. I was greeted by a quiet house and wildflowers in a mason jar with a note from my favorite man.

I took a shower(because it is *always* better to go to bed a little more tired than it is to go to bed wearing grime from a long day's work) and checked on four peaceful, sleeping children..

I was out as soon as my head hit the pillow at 3:09am.

Now it's 8:52am, and for the past 30 minutes Daniel has been manning the 'Trumpet Area" in our living room as the kids take turns trying their skill on the unwieldy instrument.

It's been fun to watch them all try so earnestly to elicit a noise, and their embarrassed delight at the resulting squawks like so many baby elephants.

I had a wonderful(though tiring) festival weekend, but missed these five people *very* much, and I am so happy to be spending this Monday morning surrounded by the happy chaos of our home.

Soon we'll pack it up and go looking for a park to swarm or a pool to swim in.

More about the Festival to come soon..

The Cosmos have spoken

A lesson in remembering the words of old:

"If any man shall build a mostly useless tower of flickering color-coded nuisance near a busy thoroughfare, it shall be stricken down in due time."

~unknown lofty philosopher, 367b.c.

Not only was the WZZM13 weatherball hit by lightning, but the colors we all depend upon have become scrambled. Word has it that mass panic spread across GR within minutes as commuters lost their bearings. Confused shouts were heard from motorists including, "I can't see the weather! I can't see the weather? Is it still raining??"
and, "It's blue(cooler in view) and red(warmer ahead) and PURPLE! There's no rhyme for PURPLE! What's happening??!AAARRGGHH!"

The beacon of weather awareness is currently dark, undergoing repairs while throngs of bewildered urbanites stand vigil beneath. When asked why they had gathered, one accountant summed it up for the whole group: "We just want our weather back."

UPDATE-------->

Current weather: Dark. Cricket-y.

UTRECHT, Netherlands - Dutch police say a man who pushed his exposed buttocks against a restaurant window as a joke was injured when the glass broke and lacerated his behind.

Authorities say a man, 21, and two others had run down a street Sunday morning with their pants pulled down. The man pushed his behind against the window of a restaurant when it broke and cut him.

The injured man was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital. The cafe owner decided not to press charges after the men agreed to pay for the broken window.

I love these folks

I had the honor of participating in an indie feature film called Zorg and Andy a while back, and have never forgotten what a delight it was to work with this group of genuine, quirky, intelligent people.

They've been chronicling the ups and downs of post-production at the film's blog, and were kind enough to post my updated info there today.

It really takes a special kind of crew to make cockroach wrangling fun; for that, and lots of other similarly unexplainable moments, I thank Northanger Productions!
