For the past long while, the buzzer has been broken, causing it to buzz longer than it should at the end of each cycle. Minutes, hours, days if you left it alone..
In keeping with our family's 'adapt and move on' mentality, we did not call a repairperson. Rather, we began unplugging it to make the grating sound stop.
Sunday morning, I leaned behind the dryer with my hand on the settings knob, and my shoulder brushing the furnace. With my free hand I pushed the plug into the electrical socket and..
Blue ribbons of electricity leapt from the outlet *AND* the settings knob where my other hand was. I felt the knob crackling under my fingers, and got a nice big shock before I was able to let go. Apparently I make a better conduit for electricity than the actual cord(I didn't touch the metal prongs. I have no idea what happened.)
I walked it off, felt something akin to a caffeine buzz for a few hours, and went to work.
...................
In other news, this morning after nearing the point of death in my first - ever spin class..
I walked out into the parking lot, approached my mom's tan truck(which I had borrowed), opened the door and prepared to toss my backpack into the carseat on the passenger side..
..except..
Where the carseat should have been sat a big, clearly bewildered black lab.
We were both very surprised to see one another.
It turns out, it was the dog's truck. Mine was parked on the other side of the lot.
I laughed so hard I could hardly make it to the correct vehicle.
....................
In retrospect, do you think these two events could be related? hmm.

Upon finding the feral child..
..crouched under the kitchen table
early in the morning
naked
wild-haired
scooping yogurt from a container
eating it with her hands
trail mix on the floor
celery thrown aside
cherub cheeks
cornflower eyes
defiant
matter-of-fact
for the hundredth time

..........................................................
she'll make your blood boil.
she'll make your heart melt.

Verbatim(or: I think I just threw up a little)
I heard this evangelist promoting her latest series about how to get God's favor. She smiled as she described how you don't need everyone to like you, just the *right* person to like you..and that God will influence people who will in turn go out of their way to bless you, and they won't even know why they're doing it. The gist of the whole series seemed to be that basically, if you make God happy, people will give you stuff that you want.
And I quote:
The favor of God can cause you to get that front row parking space at the mall!
Thanks, Kate McVeigh..I can hardly wait to cash in on .. divine favor.

Today Ginger casually remarked:
" Sometimes Tummy wants cheese, so it gets some out of the fridge..but I say, 'NO!!, Tummy! PUT that BACK! .. "
This comment drew much laughter from the rest of us, since G( who, I assure you, has never wanted for predictable nourishment) has a habit of raiding the kitchen in the wee hours of the morning for inexplicable reasons. We often find a trail of yogurt containers, cheese wrappers, berry stems...soy milk..
We now have a bit of insight into the inner dialogue she deals with as she stands before the refrigerator door. At least she tells Tummy to do the right thing...waiting for the nourishing breakfast that always arrives when the rest of the family rises..
Whatever 'Tummy' says back, though, must be very convincing..given the frequency of our messy morning discoveries.
