See How They Run!

Irony.
I found a tiny ad in the local paper about auditions for the neighboring town's community theater, and went last sunday to check it out, although I knew nothing about the play at all..
Three hours later, I headed for home, laughing to myself as I remembered the description of the character I had read for..
Penelope Toop is a has-been actress now married to the vicar of a very traditional church. They have been at this place for about a year. She has ruffled the feathers of a powerfully influential woman in the church who feels that she doesn't behave properly for a vicar's wife. Much of the comedy of the play involves exchanges between the two women..
Penelope departs from the expectations of the congregation by being too outgoing, wearing trousers in public, and making occasional errors in judgement...in other words, she's human.

So, today I found out I got cast for this role, and I'm looking forward to drawing from personal experience to help this character come to life!
For those of you in the readership who don't see the irony yet, here it is:
I'm a wannabe actress married to the pastor of a small, 140 yr old church.
I don't play the organ, run committees, teach Sunday school, or plan baby showers.
I have a tiny bit of experience going toe to toe with women who feel my husband & I should look and act differently.
I'm so outgoing that it sometimes gets me in trouble, and anyone who knows me will tell you that I do, in fact, have occasional lapses in judgement.

So, I think Penelope & I should get along just fine.
The play will be showing locally in April(14,15,16 ?), and if anyone wants tickets just call me and we'll work out the details - thanks for those of you who were praying for me Sunday!
