So Ginger has learned how to get out of her crib.
She's also the earliest riser in our home.
She's also a bit of a renegade at heart.
Which explains this.....
The morning before last I was peacefully dreaming when I was jolted from sleep by a twenty-five pound blow to the head. Or, I should say, partially jolted from my sleep. As my old first hour teacher Irish Dave can tell you, it takes alot to get me out of bed in the morning(my chronic lateness in his class was due to this).
The blow was actually Ginger landing on my head as she vaulted onto my pillow. In my half-awareness as Justin got up I remember thinking, " she smells..good...but is that a normal baby smell?"
The next thing I remember is hearing Justin's dismayed voice from the kitchen.
Apparently Ginger had made a pitstop between her bedroom and ours.
The thing about curry is that if you find the right bulk food store, you can get large quantities for a steal.
All over the inside of the fridge there were piles of the spice powder..on every shelf, each nook and cranny.
It was like an experiment in culinary forensics as we cleaned up the kitchen..the fine golden dust that coated everything showed perfect outlines of tiny footprints and finger marks, small piles of the spice where the vandal had crouched to rest.
Justin said that Ginger had wet, caked on curry all over her face, especially around her mouth. We do not know how much curry she ate, but later that day we saw...confirmation...that a significant amount had been ingested.
Thankfully this story is one we can laugh about and fairly harmless.
We have devised a strategy for catching her in the act next time she gets up too early and looks for mischief...but remembering when Willow went through this phase makes me think we are in for a nerve-racking road for awhile..
