hiatus

I think I'm going to be taking a break from blogging for a few weeks, so if you see a lack of posting - the site's not abandoned, just on hiatus. In the meantime, if you want to get in touch, I'll still be checking my email and I'd love to hear from you.
Here's something sweet to look at in the absense of words:

Respite

For days most of us have been assailed with horrifying images detailing the tragic chaos on the Gulf Coast. Although I hate forwards, I opened one today to see this image...and it was refreshing to see a spot in the world that is brimming with life and beauty. Just for a minute, I was able to give my heart and eyes a rest from the distress of what's happening..my stomach turns at the thought of those who don't have the same luxury, whose reality is quite literally a nightmare today. God help them.

Katrina

All week I've been crawling the walls because I hate not being there to DO something..watching the news tonight I just wept so deeply for each person I saw - I started out determined to remember names as they were mentioned, but there were so many..the only one that has stuck in my memory is Hayden, a premature infant stranded at the hospital where the brave nurses and doctors struggle to keep the NICU babies alive.
I just didn't have any words to say in the face of something so overwhelming, and tonight I am *very* grateful that the Spirit intercedes for when we don't know what to say. My heart is wide open in one wordless bleeding prayer for everyone suffering.
